About My Media Experiments
Posted in Uncategorized on October 17, 2008 by tjkazmarkThere are plenty of Diablo 3 media sites that cover material so much more quickly, than I ever could. With that said, the reason I have media on my site is that I’m experimenting with blogging. I’m getting a feel for how stuff goes together and making it work for me.
I do hope that the bits and pieces I do post up here are enjoyable for you all to view. I’ll be scouting around for fanart and, with their permission, posting it on here for your pleasure. Same with videos. Leave some comments for me and let me know what you’d like to see.
Wizardly Impressions
Posted in Uncategorized with tags Announcements, Blizzard, Diablo 3, Innovation, Magic, Wizard on October 14, 2008 by tjkazmarkWhen I first heard that the Wizard was announced as Diablo III‘s third class, my curiosity was peaked. I remember the days from when I played Diablo II, and the gameplay that entailed being the Sorceress. I wasn’t all that crazy about it. However, the angle that Blizzard has taken in its approach to this revision has left me smiling.
The wizard is a magic-based class that specializes in ranged elemental damage. Pretty straightforward, right? That works for a lot of people, myself included at times, but it comes to a point where I really want to get some utility out of my character. I don’t just want to fire off torrents of elemental destruction, but be more creative in the execution of my foes. Blizzard touched on this with the Slow Time ability. From watching the brief video showcasing the skill, I can see that it could be very useful for obvious reason, but also add a fun factor to the mix.
A quick question that came to mind involved the physics engine. Since enemies and their attacks are slowed within the sphere, does it also affect the environment? If so, would positioning it near a falling wall be able to create a trap for quicker incoming enemies? I’m always looking for unique uses of abilities, so if I were to see this done, I’d be impressed.
Aside from the abilities themselves, I enjoyed the way that Blizzard envisioned the spells for the Wizard. Aside from Magic Missile (a classic standby), I’m not seeing any of the projectile spells that, after a while, can get really repetitive and dull. Seeing the Disintigrate and Electrocute spells reinforced my impression that this class would be fun to play.
Now, every class can get ‘dull and repetitive’ if you’ve played for a long time, but when I say this I’m referring to the decades that have brought magic into their games as the standard glowing projectile. While I know that it’s a neccessity, I hate seeing simple rehashes with no real unique qualities to them (No offense to those games that actually have).
Griping aside, I can say that I’m interested in seeing what else the Wizard has to offer us in Diablo III. I hope to find out soon.

Coming Soon!
Posted in Uncategorized with tags Diablo 3, Patience, Time on September 8, 2008 by tjkazmarkI’ll have some material up soon. I just need to get a few things in order and take an hour to get a good post written.
(Edit: Sept. 8, 2008) It’s going to take a little longer than I had originally planned. I was browsing the official Diablo 3 forums and came across a post from targetgamer, who was kind enough to provide a list of links to over one hundred interviews since the title’s annoucement. You can find the list here.
The post was taken from DiabloWiki, so I’ll link you to the list there.
Rest assured that I will find one of several good topics to cover in the coming days.
